This is a test page for a system I am currently working on that attempts to play dynamic/interactive music using the Web Audio API.
It's a rough backing track based on the introduction of John Coltrane's 'Mr P.C.' that I made for a student who is working on walking bass lines. It's a commonly chosen example of a fast minor blues. Unfortunately because of the way the sounds are encoded (as soundfonts translated into javascript essentially!) it doesn't sound all that great.
You should be able to adjust the volume of each instrument, change tempo (though currently not dynamically during playback - working on it!) and watch chords change as the sequence progresses.
I have only tested it in relatively up to date versions of Firefox/Chrome (though it may work in other browsers also - eg. those that use Chromium perhaps: Vivaldi/Brave/Edge etc. - Safari seems patchy...).
If you have any questions or problems (or would like guitar/bass/music production/technology lessons/need music composed/sound design made!) feel free to get in touch.
Read more about John Coltrane, Paul Chambers, Tommy Flanagan, Art Taylor, the 'Giant Steps' album and 'Mr P.C.'.
Please scroll down the page to the controls, first click the 'start audio' button (to ensure audio is enabled in your browser) and then hit 'play'!
